Lead Instrument Engineer (In House, Staff role)

Position reports to: Manager - Instrument & Control Engineering or Delegate

Primary objective:

To ensure Instrumentation and Control systems design integrity whilst leading I&C engineering team on specific projects.

Specific Accountabilities:

• Ensure work is carried out competently and effectively, within time and budget constraints, and that project objectives are satisfied.

• Overall supervision of I&C engineers, designers and technical personnel in the execution of the project and take ownership of the work executed by the team..

• Ensure integrity of workscope and that all work is carried our in accordance with applicable codes and standards and Company approved procedures..

• Communicate, Delegate, Facilitate and develop a productive and cohesive team and take ownership of the overall design and .interface requirements.

• Participate and contribute in Client Design review meetings and Technical Review meetings such as HAZOP, SIL and constructability reviews etc.

• Maintain and facilitate an awareness of HS&E across the discipline within assigned project.

• Maintain and facilitate an awareness of HS&E in Design across the discipline within assigned project.

• Promote the understanding and application of risk management techniques within the discipline.

• Ensure discipline personnel consistently work within the Quality Management System.

• Monitor and maintain I&C engineering estimating norms.

• Develop and promote initiatives to improve cost effectiveness and productivity on projects.

• Liaise with Chief Engineer on project discipline resource requirements.

• Identify software necessary to enable group to function effectively.

• Discipline and inter discipline communication development.

• Prepare I&C cost, time and resource requirement estimates on assigned projects.

• Identify and review new technologies development which may provide more efficient and cost effective solutions.

• Liaise with Project Manager/Engineer to manage design change within project budget and schedule framework.

Essential Skills/Experience

• Bachelor of Engineering (Instrumentation/Electronics) from reputed Universities.

• 18 years + experience within the upstream oil and gas industry particularly well sites, pipelines, Gas/ oil separation, dehydration and compression facilities.

• Engineering , procurement , testing and construction support of following packages:

- Foundation Field bus Instrumentation , Conventional and safeguarding system Instrumentation

- Packages such as HIPPS, multiphase flow meters, vibration monitoring systems, control valves, relief valves, ESD valves and multiport valves, fiscal metering and Hydraulic wellhead control panels of oil wells & gas wells etc

- F&G instrumentation and Fire protection systems

• Hands on experience with Intools/SPI and exposure to PDS and work share environment

• Shall be conversant with International standards such as IEC, API, ISA and SHELL DEPs

• Preparation of basis of design, control philosophies, specifications, datasheets, sizing calculations, Material Requisitions, technical bid evaluations, PO requisitions, detail engineering deliverables and construction workpacks

• Carry out vendor drawing reviews and approval on discipline related packages and other mechanical packages. Incorporation of vendor details into design deliverables .

• Coordination with System integrator

• Participate in Inspection and FAT, IFAT and ISAT etc

• Resolution of engineering queries during the procurement and construction phase.

• Provide Site Support for Construction and commissioning team.

• Prepare Operating manuals and EPC dossiers.

Matching Indicators:

Preference will be given to candidates with extensive design experience on large scale upstream Oil and gas projects with design experience on systems such as DCS, ESD, FF, SCADA, Telecoms and F&G systems.

Candidate shall be familiar with SHELL DEPs, and International codes and standards.

Shall be conversant with MS office. Valve sizing calculations, flow element sizing calculations.

Exposure to Intools and SIL studies and ability to provide input to control and shutdown narrative is a must requirement .

Good communication skills, presentation skills and report writing skills are essential requirements.
