To plan and supervise the day-to-day construction activities at site level, and ensure that work is carried out in a safe manner in line with Al-Futtaim Carillion’s Integrated Management systems
KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB:
As well as demonstrating competence in subordinates key objectives,
- Determine and procure resources (labour, plant, equipment and subcontract requirements) and assign responsibilities for roles and tasks necessary for the satisfactory completion of the works
- Monitor and control the supply of materials to control cost, productivity and meet programme
- Maintain and comply with systems for managing Site Health and Safety and Welfare
- Ensure the inspection, preparation and maintenance of the site in a satisfactory condition for the safe execution of The Works
- Motivate personnel and arrange for effective productivity and economic use of labour, plant and subcontract resources and achievement of required quality within any environmental constraints
- In conjunction with the engineering staff, determine methods or working and programme of works
- Maintain on-site administrative systems to ensure integrated management systems are adhered to
- Ensure the provision of information on methods and programmes to enable the completion of The Works
- Monitor and record works where required to enable financial recovery
- Implement disciplinary and grievance procedures as required by prevailing conditions
- Monitor expenditure against budget and monitor progress of works against programme
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with the Client, general public and other 3rd Parties
OPERATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
SUPERVISORY/ DELIVERY
* Able to lead 2-4 G/F and supervise 1000 men.
* Able to liaise and manage subcontractors' personnel
* Ensures works are in accordance to programme and deadlines.
* Receives instructions from Project Manager or Construction Manager and communicate with colleagues and supervisors.
* Identifies skills within the team and encourages their development. Carries out Job Chats and Performance Reviews as necessary.
* Monitors Absenteeism and coordinates leaves requirements for the site teams.
* Leads the Implementation of the company policies and values.
* Attends package progress meetings and provides feedback on requirements.
* Liaises between project management and site supervision.
HEALTH & SAFETY
* Ensures safe systems of work are in place, including:
• Permit to work
• Appropriate PPE specific for the task.
• Safe Access and Egress.
• Safe tools and plant.
• Housekeeping and materials storage.
* Promotes and implements 'Don't Walk By' (DWB) policy.
* Facilitates Tool Box Talks (TBT) and ensures contents are implemented.
* Attends Weekly HSE Meetings and ensures actions are implemented.
* Ensures his team are aware of the Emergency Response Procedure for his part of the job.
* Ensures minimisation Health related risks (dust, noise, manual handling, heat stress, vibration, hygiene...etc.).
* Understands Temporary Works (TW) Procedures (Could be TW Supervisor).
* Ensures team are aware of Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and COSHH requirements.
* Ensures elimination of minimisation of Environmental consequences of pollution and chemicals’ spillage…etc.
* Ensures implementation of Method Statements and Risk Assessments, and participates in their preparation.
* Leadership on safety standards and culture.
QUALITY
* Plans the Works Inspection Requests with the QA/QC and Site Engineer.
* Able to liaise with RE/Inspectors.
* Ensures high quality standard and minimises Non Conformances by controlling workmanship and by preventing defective works.
* Ensures the specification requirements and relevant tolerances for the specific task are met.
COST
* Leads productivity enhancement and bonus schemes implementation.
* Monitors resources’ efficient allocation and reports on deficiency or excess resources.
* Ensures materials wastage is eliminated or reduced and materials are reused where possible and reconciled accordingly.
* Knows scope of works, and ensures variations and back-charges are allocated to others. Coordinates day-work records for the same with the Commercial Team.
